Autumn Meeting on Friday October 9th
A talk by Caring for God’s Acre ( http://www.caringforgodsacre.org.uk/ ) who’s mission is to champion the conservation of churchyards and burial sites across the British Isles. We know of one or two churchyards in the Forest that include some management for wildflowers but many seem to be kept  closely mowed.  This was held at Westbury on Severn Village Hall.

Monday June 22nd in the afternoon a walk around meadows near Tidenham based in the Tidenham Chase Old School Village Hall .

Altogether 16 members and others walked around the GWT reserves nearby ( Ridley Bottom and Poor’s Allotment ) and some other nearby sites as well. Again grasses were there to look at.

Saturday June 6th a walk from Blakeney part of the way to Soudley  and back on the other side of the stream. 18 members and others came on the walk and saw some lovely meadows, some grazed by cattle and others left for a hay cut before grazing. We had some grasses on display for identification and members were really interested as grasses tend to be a bit “difficult” compared to flowers.
The project to reopen the route and involve the local community is described on their website:

We started our activities this year with the Spring Meeting at West Dean Centre Bream  as in previous years.
Friday April 17th. Several group members gave short talks about their meadows i.e. situation, land use, management, problems ( surely not ), whatever they enjoyed about being there and looking after it. AND Rosie Kelsall gave an update on the Lottery bid and what it might mean for meadows.
